Cut tree and gate five “E” concept of Jayantibhai K. Lakdawala

According to environmental calculations, earth must have 33% green trees to control carbon dioxide proportion in atmosphere. One tree produces 100 kg wood every year.
Crop pattern in India is uncontrolled and so many times many crops becomes surplus. It impacts on crop product prices and in many cases government MSP is much higher than prices prevailing in market. So, during this period, only government is buyer and government has huge burden to purchase, store and distribute such purchased crops products.

Farmers are not willing to grow tree because of some government restrictions and always try to grow same crops years to years. This is the main reason why farmers are not getting proper income. If government allows farmer to grow tress and permit them to cut
and sell, some of land will become available for tree plantation and commodity crop area will reduce. It will result in balance of demand supply of food crops and will reduce government burden in purchase at MSP and even to store. We have seen tons and tons of food grains are spoiled in godowns because of improper storage.

Why to grow tress –
  • It gives income to grower/farmers
  • Complete renewable source of energy It reduces use of other resources like steel, coal, gas, cement crude etc.
  • Unbelievable employment at rural level Decrease in migration from village to urban
  • Reduce water requirement in agriculture (because tree plantation need lower water than usual crops)
  • Reduction in government burden to buy at MSP and store such products
  • Reduction in use of fertilizers and pesticides
  • Reduction in foreign exchange spent on import of woods for furniture and other purposes.
Why to cut trees :

As we know human is growing till the age to 20 years. Like that tress are also growing till some particular age. Old tress does have same photosynthesis as young tress have. Means older trees do not consume carbon dioxide from atmosphere what young and
growing trees consume. So we see many tress in forest and road side but they are not so effective for carbon dioxide consumption and do not help in protecting atmosphere or global warming. So we must have growing trees more than old ones. So we must have circulation system for trees.

What benefits government from Tress :

If governments allow to cut atleats 3% of matured age tress, what income will government have. And same time in same proportion, new trees must be planted. So it will become regular income source. Less foreign exchange spending on import of woods from other

Who should grow tress:
  • Government is doing since long in forest and roads side.
  • Unused land like river sides, railway sides – should be allocated to
farmers or professionals on lease basis.
  • Some portion of crop land is also to be allowed for tree plantation.
Who should promote:

At present only government is promoting tree plantation but it is
not effective because of many reasons.
But it must be asked Industries to promote this noble cause.
At present, industry is asked to make green belt in their premises to certain limit. This direction is not proper and not giving desired results. First they are asked to use land which should be used for some productive industrial purpose.

Second it becomes fragmented as all industry are not big or same size. Some have 100 sq mt for plantation and some giants have thousands of sq mt for plantation. Second it is not their core business and they lack in knowledge. So plantation is just for show
or to fulfill some government notifications.

So industry must be asked to promote this activity outside industrial belt. Role of industry is to finance tree plantation project. Some NGO/Professional will come forward to take this project and will guide with scientific approach. Land will be provided by farmer of government (unused land). Beneficiary should be land owner and professional who provide technical services.

In this case industry can be asked to promote more land than what they are supposed to do in industrial belt.

It will increase employment (skilled and unskilled). Employment will penetrate in rural areas. Excess crops will be reduced and farmer will have better income from traditional crops and extra from trees plantation.

more :

Indian people have tendency to save. They make fixed deposits in banks for long times and withdraw when they need for many social occasions. Same way trees will become fixed deposits for growers.

Spending of government in purchase of food crops from farmer at MSP will be reduced and same money can be used for developments of infrastructure, in health sector and in education sector which will be more beneficial to the country.

Employment will be at record level. Migration from rural to urban will stop. Farmer Loan weaver issue will be

Crude import will be reduced drastically and will protect currency down grade.

Like state governments attracts big investments by providing land, water, electricity like infrastructure, same way government can provide land from farmers or unproductive land from roads side/river side/railways sides.

There are many crop lands which are not suitable for food grains and other cash crops. Also, many parts have only monsoon farming because of lack of water resources. In such farmer owned land industry can promote tree plantation which needs less water.

Wood cutting can promote many industries like furniture industry, wood pallets for fuel. Generate employment in all areas for all kind of skills.
